Maida
is made from wheat. When you grind wheat grains in a mill you obtain wheat
flour and when the wheat flour is pressed through a very fine sieve you obtain
Maida. Maida is refined wheat flour. Wheat flour has the goodness of bran and
fiber and therefore healthy. Maida is very refined wheat flour with all the
bran removed and is pure carb.
Whole
grains are better sources of disease-fighting phytochemicals and antioxidants
than fruits and vegetables. In addition, they have certain valuable
antioxidants not found in fruits and vegetables as also B vitamins, vitamin E,
magnesium, iron and fiber.
Whole
grains are believed to be nutritionally superior to refined grains, richer in
dietary fiber, antioxidants, protein, dietary minerals and vitamins. The
greater amount of dietary fibre (almost four times that found in refined
grains) in whole grains in highly beneficial. Some of these protective effects
occur because complex carbohydrates from whole grains are digested and enter
the bloodstream more slowly.
The
huge loss of vitamins and mineral in refined wheat flour has led to widespread
prevalence of constipation and other related digestive disturbance and
nutritional disorders, particularly diabetes. The consumption of white flour is
thus an important contributory cause of diabetes, and its aggravation, if the
disease has already developed.
